Dancehall artistes Demarco and Wayne Wonder arrived in Kampala last Wednesday ahead of the K-FM ‘Koncert’ at Lugogo Cricket Oval on Saturday. The concert was aimed at KFM celebrating being ‘Number One’ station and Monitor Publications Limited (MPL) marking their 20th anniversary.
Monitor Publication’s Alex Asiimwe, who spearheaded the concert and shipped in the two top Jamaican artistes plus Kenyan rapper Madtraxx, nearly shed tears. We hear the show was a mega flop as very few people attended and most of these had won free tickets on radio and TV stations. Fans also complained of exorbitant entry fees since ordinary tickets went Shs.30,000 while VIP tickets cost Shs.120,000 each.
The rain worsened things, but worst of all, the day coincided with the return of the U.P.D.F crash chopper remains and survivors. Our Paps reveal that the much publicised concert turned into a calamity for Monitor Publications and K-FM. |
